Secrets, Symbols and Stories of Tewkesbury Abbey
November 14 @ 10:30 am – 1:00 pm
An informal and fascinating morning with Brian Hoggard
Join the Friends of Tewkesbury Abbey for a very special autumn event with Brian Hoggard, archaeologist, author, heritage professional and the Abbey’s Fabric Officer.
Brian will take us on a fascinating journey into the hidden stories, traditions and mysteries contained within our remarkable 900-year-old Abbey.
His expertise in apotropaic marks – historic symbols and marks believed to offer protection from evil and misfortune – brings a unique perspective to the buildings and places we think we know so well.
HISTORY, CONVERSATION & CAKE!
The morning will begin in the Parish Hall, where Brian will give an engaging and illustrated talk in a relaxed and informal setting.
During the talk, tea, coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes will be served, providing the perfect opportunity to sit back, enjoy some refreshments and share your enthusiasm for the Abbey with fellow Friends and guests.
This is a superb opportunity for Friends of Tewkesbury Abbey and anyone interested in the Abbey and its fascinating history to come together, meet others and hear from one of the people who knows the building best.
THEN… DISCOVER THE ABBEY
Following the talk, Brian will lead an exclusive tour of the Abbey, revealing fascinating details, architectural features and hidden stories that are so easily missed.
Come along, enjoy a coffee and cake, meet fellow Abbey enthusiasts and discover Tewkesbury Abbey through completely new eyes.
