On Friday 28th October 2022 Mr Tim Bridges, Conservation Adviser for the Victorian Society , gave an excellent lecture to the Friends on the subject of ‘Sir George Gilbert Scott: Hero or Villain?’
Sir George Gilbert Scott is recognised as one of the most significant figures in Victorian church restoration. He and his practice undertook works at most English Cathedrals and major churches during the nineteenth century, including a programme of works at Tewkesbury Abbey which was not completed until after his death in 1878.
